Babusci Extends Kills Streak in Friday Defeat

ERIE, Pa. - Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball continued its eastern road trip with a Friday night match at Penn State-Behrend. The Scarlet Hawks stayed close in two sets, but fell 3-0.

Scores

  • Penn State-Behrend 3, Tech 0 (25-22, 24-10, 26-24)

How it Happened

  • The first set started off even before Behrend went on a 6-1 run to take a 17-10 lead. Tech, however, went on a 9-1 run of their own to tie the set at 20. After trading points, PSB took control and won the set 25-22 on a kill.
  • Set two was the roughest of the match for the Scarlet Hawks, as Penn State-Behrend took a commanding early lead. The Hawks never recovered and dropped the set 24-10.
  • Set three started out much like set one, as neither team could gain control in the early going. In the middle of the set, Illinois Tech was the first team to go on a run of more than two points, scoring four straight to go up 14-12. However, Behrend flipped the script and gained the advantage, going up by four at 23-19. Two Alex Babusci kills led a Tech comeback to tie the score at 24, but Behrend scored the final two points for the match victory.
