Men's Volleyball Falls to Marian

CHICAGO, Ill. - Playing against the Marian University Sabres the first of two times over the next week, the Illinois Institute of Technology Men's Volleyball team was defeated at home in straight sets on Saturday.

How it Happened

  • Despite Marian starting the first set on a 5-1 run, the Scarlet Hawks fought back into it. After a run that included kills from several Hawks, Tech took the lead at 11-10. However, Marian responded with a 4-0 run of their own and held the advantage for the rest of the set.
  • Set two was back and forth for much of the early going. After an ace from Kyle Bumpass put the Hawks up 12-11, Marian went on a 5-0 run. The lead held en route to the 25-18 win.
  • The third set was Tech's strongest, as the team took a 5-0 lead to seat. Marian closed the gap and took its first lead of the set at 9-8, setting up a tight rest of the set. Late kills from the Sabres would lead to the 26-24 set victory.
