Men's Volleyball Defeated at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball team took a trip south to St. Louis on Saturday evening to oppose the Griffins of Fontbonne University. The Scarlet Hawks were defeated in straight sets.

How it Happened

  • In the first set, the Scarlet Hawks started off slow, as some attack errors allowed the Griffins to buld an 8-3 advantage. Tech would struggle to close the gap, as the Griffins went on to win 25-18.
  • Set two was tighty contested early, as Tech stayed close and led 12-11. However, a huge run by Fontbonne put the set away. The Griffins scored eight straight and went on to win 25-15.
  • In set three, Fontbonne took a 9-3 advantage to start, but the Scarlet Hawks would not go away quietly. Tech used a 5-0 run to vault the team to a 15-12 advantage. A 6-0 run for the Griffins gave the Missouri school the lead back for good, as Fontbonne held onto win 25-20.
