Men’s Volleyball Suffers Loss to CUW

Mequon, Wis. - With three games remaining in the 2022-23 regular season schedule, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's volleyball team took on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcon in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) match-up. 

The Hawks (10-14, 5-4) were unable to keep pace with the Falcons (13-8, 7-2) as they fell in three sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-14. 

How it Happened 

Concordia University Wisconsin 3 - Illinois Tech 0 

  • Multiple ties took place in the first set, with 11-11 being the last time before the Falcons jumped ahead. The Falcons took set one over the Hawks 25-19.

  • Set two would stay even much like the first set. The set would be tied this time at 20-20 with the Falcons breaking out ahead one again. CUW would take four straight points before Illinois Tech attempted to come back. Unfortunately, the Hawks were unable to complete the comeback as the Hawks dropped the set 25-22 to the Falcons. 

  • Set three started out in favor of the Hawks, but eventually turned to the Falcons who led the rest of the set to take a 25-14 victory. 

Scarlet Hawks Standouts

  • Grant Couper ended with 11 kills, 24 total attacks, a .333 kill percentage, 5 digs, 1 block solo, and 1 block assist.

Falcons Standouts

  • Spencer Herman finished with 14 kills, 30 total attacks, a .300 kill percentage, 1 service ace, 8 digs, and 1 block assist.

  • Ben Kayser ended with 10 kills, 22 total attacks, a .318 kill percentage, 7 digs, and 1 block assist.

The Hawks now turn their focus to Saturday when they travel to Lisle, Ill. to take on the Benedictine University Eagles (13-7, 8-1) in a 12:00 pm match-up.
