Men’s Volleyball Road Match Ends in Loss

Lisle, Ill. - On the road, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's volleyball took on the Benedictine University Eagles in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action.

Unfortunately, the Hawks (10-15, 5-5) dropped three straight sets as the Eagles (14-7, 9-1) went 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 for a 3-0 match victory. 

How it Happened 

Benedictine 3 - Illinois Tech 0

  • Illinois Tech started set one on a 3-0 run which eventually led to a 5-5 tie between the two sides. The Hawks ended back up on top before the set was tied once again at 13-13. As the Hawks took the lead once again, the Eagles kept the set close and eventually took the lead to win the set 25-21 over the Hawks. 

  • Neither side was able to get far ahead of the other throughout the second set as multiple ties and lead changes took place. By the end of the set, the Eagles ended up on top of the Hawks, taking set two 25-22. 

  • After a few ties to begin set three, the Eagles led the Hawks the whole way. The Hawks kept the set close, but were unable to fully comeback as they dropped the set 25-23 to the Eagles. 

Scarlet Hawks Standouts

  • Jackson Van Engen finished with 5 kills, 11 total attacks, 1 service ace,2  block solos, and 2 block assists. 

  • Grant Couper finished with 4 kills, 16 total attacks, 1 service ace, 4 digs, 1 blcok solos, and 1 block assist. 

Eagles Standouts

  • Chase Olson recorded 13 kills, 18 total attacks, a .667 kill percentage, and 2 service aces for the Eagles.

  • Martin Radomski picked up 12 kills, 25 total attacks, and a .320 kill percentage.

Two matches remain on the Hawks regular season schedule with both set to take place inside the Keating Sports Center. On Wednesday, the Hawks take on the Lakeland University Muskies (6-5, 1-8) at 7:00pm.
