Men's Cross Country at Concordia Wis. Falcon Invite

Mequon, WI - Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks traveled to Mequon, Wisconsin this past weekend for the Falcon Invitational hosted by Concordia University. Coach Hantau believes that the men and women showed significant improvements from the season opener, two weeks ago. "I'm glad we added this meet to our schedule this year. It is a flat, fast course with deep and competitive teams. We raced 2 extra km for both teams and with that everyone shaved time since our first meet", noted Hantau

Samuel Wietliespach led the men again this past weekend. The junior crossed the line in 7th place, setting a personal best on the way, with a time of 26:23 in the 8km race. The Illinois Tech Men's team finished the meet in 8th place.  "There's a lot of youth in our men's team and some learning to do for most of them. I'm glad that the few returners have great leadership skills and will be able to ease the transition. In college, we race almost 2 miles more for cross country and it will take some time for people to adjust. Landon Vowels and Adam Becker, 2nd and 3rd scorers for the Hawks, teamed up and raced together, turning in a good performance at the Falcon Invite. I'm very pleased with Calvin Demski and Quentin Shippley as well. I can see that the 8 km distance is new territory for them but they raced hard helped the team tremendously", said Head Coach Calin Hantau.

Next stop for the the Scarlet Hawks Cross Country is Friday, September 26 at St. James Farm in Warrenville, IL for the College of Du Page Invitational. The women's 5km race is scheduled to start at 4:00PM followed by the men's 8 km at 4:45PM.
