Wietliespach Leads the Hawks at UW-Parkside

Kenosha, Wis. - The Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams competed at the Lucian Rosa Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside, on Saturday, October 11th. "This was the deepest field we faced this year, but despite the challenging course there were many Season and Personal Bests performances recorded today" said Assistant Coach Raul Botezan.

The men's team finished 14th out of the 17 teams but some fine performances were recorded at this meet. Samuel Wietliespach's finishing time, 25:54, a new personal best, ranks him number 3 on the all-time 8km list for the Scarlet Hawks. "Sam is improving from one meet to another and he might challenge the school record by the end of the year. We race the Parkside meet every year and he is the first Scarlet Hawk runner to dip under 26 minutes on that course" noted Head Coach Calin Hantau. Landon Vowels was the second runner for Illinois Tech to cross the finish line, with a new season best. Quentin Shipley had a great day and improved his 8km time by almost a minute, finishing in 29:19. Adam Becker and Calvin Demski rounded up the top 5 for the men's team.

The Cross Country teams will compete next weekend at the AAE Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Course. That will conclude the regular season for the Scarlet Hawks.
