Scarlet Hawk Cross Country Heading to Nationals

Chicago, Illinois - The Men and Women's Cross Country runners will travel to Syracuse NY for the USCAA Cross Country Nationals. The event, held at Drumlins Country Club will bring together teams from multiple regions. "Being part of a National Championship Event is very exciting for our athletes and us, the coaching staff. "It is actually hard to get a picture of what that meet will look like and how we will fare. We are not familiar with the teams there but we will be shooting for a top 6 finish for both teams" said Head Coach Calin Hantau. Top 7 individuals will receive All-American First Team distinctions and the following 7 finishers will be recognized as Second Team All-American. "Our goal is to have some individuals race in such manner that they will be in a position to finish with honors" noted Assistant Coach Raul Botezan.

"We know that the host school, SUNY ESF, is poised for a good race, for both men and women. They are the defending champions on the men side and finished second in the women's race last year. I'm expecting a field with about 20 teams, but we will know more when we get to Syracuse" concluded Hantau.

Alfred State University, Penn State Greater Allegheny, Paul Smith's College, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Cleary University, Albany College of Pharmacy, WV Tech are among the teams  that will toe the line on Friday.

The women's 6 km Championship race is scheduled for 11:00am and the Men's 8 km is set for 12:00pm.
