Maron, Wicka, and Henriques Impress but Scarlet Hawks Stumble Against Elmhurst

Chicago, Illinois- Maron, Wicka, and Henriques all had a strong performance but it wasn't enough to propel the Scarlet Hawks to a victory versus an athletic Elmhurst team. Illinois Tech Women's Basketball hosted Elmhurst College at Keating Sports Arena on Monday night. Elmhurst College came into the contest with a 4-3 record; winning their previous game versus Beloit College and looking to post a back to back win.

The game started with Elmhurst jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Throughout the first 7 minutes of the first half, it was a defensive battle between both teams with not much execution on the offensive ends. The Scarlet Hawks kept the score very close being led by Adrianna Maron who hit two big shots from 3-point range. As the first half progressed, Elmhurst started to execute on the offensive end by dominating in the paint; utilizing their size advantage over Illinois Tech. With 3:39 left in the first half, Elmhurst led 38-24 and closed out the half with a 48-27 lead.

The second half started with both teams exchanging baskets.  Jessica Henriques and Kayla Wicka were responsible for most of the Scarlet Hawk scoring. Elmhurst was too much for Illinois Tech though and managed to outscore the Hawks 48-20 in the second half for a final score of 97-46.

Adrianna Maron finished with 13 points, Kaylee Wicka finished with 14 points, and Jessica Henriques with 13 points off the bench for the Scarlet Hawks.

The Hawks continue their stretch of four games in six days as they head to Milwaukee School of Engineering tomorrow for a 7PM tip-off.
