Maron Drops 19 Points, Women Basketball Falls Short to Oberlin College

Chicago, IL- the Scarlet Hawk Women hosted Oberlin in the first game of 2015 at Keating Sports Center. Over the holiday break, the Scarlet Hawks lost their leading scorer Kayla Wicka which was a very big loss for the team.  Captain Adrianna Maron stepped up with a big game scoring 19 points and was the catalyst for everything offensively for the Scarlet Hawks.

In a game that finishes 95-35 in a loss for the Scarlet Hawks, the score was not an accurate representation of the game. The first half started with Oberlin going on a 10-0 in the first 4 minutes, forcing the Scarlet Hawks to take 2 quick timeouts. Within the next 7 minutes, the Scarlet Hawks started buzzing on the defensive side of the ball giving them some confidence back. They would go on a 7-0 run and with 10:45 left in the half the score was 18-12 in favor of Oberlin. Both teams exchanged baskets for a while and with 7:25 left in the first half Oberlin led 23-17. Oberlin then took over extending their lead to 47-23 at the end of the first half.

Oberlin continued where they left off in the last 7 minutes of the first half, taking advantage of the Scarlet Hawks lack of dept. The Scarlet Hawks kept playing hard and never gave up for a minute regardless of the Oberlin lead. Adrianna Maron displayed great leadership and the team finished stong.  However, Oberlin outscored the Scarlet Hawks 48-12 and secured a 95-35 victory.
