Women’s Basketball Suffer Road Defeat to MSOE, 72-44

Milwaukee, WI- Women's Basketball traveled to Milwaukee to take on a strong 7-1 Milwaukee School of Engineering team. Coming into the encounter, the Scarlet Hawk women had been playing better basketball regardless of the results not going their way. The team has been working very hard and morale has been very positive led by Coach Gilmore and Captain Adrianna Maron.

The first half started with MSOE going on a 10-0 run; where the Scarlet Hawk women were out-rebounded by an athletic MSOE team and struggled to get much going on the offensive side of the ball. MSOE continued to dominate throughout the first 10 minutes of the first half led by Holly Denfeld. The Scarlet Hawks picked up the intensity on the defensive end which led to momentum on the offensive side of the ball led by Kaylee Wicka, the outstanding freshman who finished the first half with 12 points. Despite the Scarlet Hawk resurgence, MSOE went into the half leading 37-20.

The second half started with MSOE continuing their dominance, going on an 8-0 run in an effort to put the game completely out of the reach. The Scarlet Hawks remained resilient though led by Captain Adrianna Maron who hit three big 3-pointers in the second half finishing the half with 11pts. Wicka continued to lead the Scarlet Hawks offense in the second half and finished the game with 18 points. The Scarlet Hawks were outscored in the second half 35-24. MSOE trio of Holly Denfeld-22 points, Shaylan Reardon-16 points, and Marly Trier-13 points was just too much for Illinois Tech to contain throughout resulting in the 72-44 MSOE victory.
