Short Trip for Women's Basketball to Take on Neighboring University of Chicago

Chicago, IL- The Scarlet Hawks Women's basketball team didn't have to do much traveling for their road game to take on University of Chicago. A 10 minute drive separates the two well-known Chicago schools and on this day they faced off in a DIII Collegiate Women's Basketball match up. The University of Chicago is having a respectable season so far with a 5-5 record while the Scarlet Hawks were playing on back-to-back days after falling to Oberlin on Friday evening.

The first half started with University of Chicago going on 8-0 run. The Scarlet Hawks made their first shot five minutes into the half through an Adrianna Maron layup.  The Scarlet Hawks struggled to get much going on offense and didn't make another field goal until 6:59 was left on the clock for the half.  Meanwhile, University of Chicago was effective on offense scoring 47 points in the first half, heading into the locker room with a 47-15 advantage.

The second half saw the Scarlet Hawks come out playing more tenacious defense holding University of Chicago to only 29 points in comparison to the 47 they gave up in the first. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Hawks success on defense didn't translate to success on the offensive side of the ball. The Scarlet Hawks continued their offensive struggle only scoring 15 points in the second half.  Maron led the way for the Hawks with 13 points.

University of Chicago came away with a 76-30 victory over the Scarlet Hawks.
