CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team faced a tough test to open the season on Saturday afternoon, squaring off against NCAA Division III's tenth ranked team according to d3hoops.com: Calvin College. The Knights topped the Scarlet Hawks 87-19.
How it Happened
- Illinois Tech scored on its first possession courtsey of Venika Jarvis, but the offense went cold for the rest of the first quarter until Hailey Borowczyk scored with 3:31 remaining.
- The Knights kept things rolling in the second quarter, but three-pointers by the sister tandem of Rebecca Bell and Brooke Bell pushed Tech into double-digits at halftime.
- April Wanagas entered the game in the third quarter and proceeded to score all of Tech's five points in the third frame.
- Tech played its best defensive quarter in the fourth, but struggled offensivley and was outscored 17-3.

- Wanagas led Tech with six points in just 13 minutes.
- Jarvis scored four points and led the Hawks with 10 rebounds.
- Norma Flesvig corraled eight boards of her own.
