Women's Basketball Falls to Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team traveled to Iowa on Saturday to oppose Cornell College. Tech fell 69-24.

How it Happened

  • Tech's defense struggled through the first two quarters, with the Rams netting 47 points.
  • Illinois Tech's defense tightened in the third, holding the Rams to just 12 points. Rebecca Bell and April Wanagas hit three-point shots for the Hawks in the frame.
  • Tech had it's best quarter of the night in the fourth, holding Cornell to 10. Hailey Borowczyk tallied five points in just four minutes, more than any player on either team in the fourth.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Borowczyk led the Hawks with 11 points to go along with five rebounds.
  • Rebecca Bell led Tech with seven rebounds.

Cornell Notes

  • Tana Kemmer led the Rams with 12 points off the bench.
