Women's Hoops Falls to Maranatha

WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team traveled north to oppose Maranatha Baptist University on Friday night. Tech fell to the Sabercats 69-25.

How it Happened

  • Tech's offense struggled in the first quarter, as MBU outscored the Hawks 22-4.
  • The Scarlet Hawks offense picked up in quarter number two, as Tech poured in 13 points. Brooke Bell and April Wanagas each added four in the quarter to lead the Hawks.
  • In the third, Tech's defense held the Sabercats to just 20% shooting and 11 points. However, Tech's offense struggled in both the third and the fourth quarters, leading to the Sabercat victory.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Venika Jarvis (pictured) tallied six points and a game-high eight rebounds. She also led the Hawks with three steals.
  • Wanagas tallied six points with seven rebounds.
