Milwaukee, Wis. - Playing their first road game in well over a month, the Illinois Tech women's basketball team took extra time but beat host Alverno 73-66 in double-overtime to snap their 3-game losing streak. The Scarlet Hawks improved to 4-9 overall(1-6 NACC). The Inferno dropped to 1-12(0-6 NACC).
Julia Bucci led the way for the Hawks with 30 points, including shooting 54 percent from three-point range (7-13) while pulling down 15 rebounds. Jessica Weaver had a career-best game with 16 points and 19 rebounds.
Down by three in the second overtime, Bucci hit a three-pointer at 3:41 to tie the game at 64-64.
A pair of free throws by Meredith Williams gave the Hawks the lead for good at 2:39. Bucci added another three-pointer at 1:59 to push their lead to 69-64, on their way to the double-overtime victory.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Bucci finished with 30 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.
- Weaver had career highs in points (16) and rebounds (19), to go along with three steals.
- Deriniece Moton added 17 points and three steals.
Inferno Watch
- Angie Reutgen led Alverno with 17 points and added seven rebounds.
- Jewel Zahradka had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
- Dom Hudson had nine points, eight rebounds, nine assists and five steals.
