Rubin Named MWLC Defensive Player of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's lacrosse team has earned its first Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week Award. Freshman Isabella Rubin has received the Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance for the week of March 21-27.

A native of Concord, New Hampshire, Rubin stood out for the Scarlet Hawks defense in the team's 12-11 victory over St. Mary's (Indiana). Rubin was strong in many aspects, as she tallied two goals, seven ground balls (leading the team), three draw controls and one caused turnover. Tech allowed just three second half goals in the contest.

Rubin and the 5-2 Scarlet Hawks return to action tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Stuart Field. The team faces a tough non-conference test, hosting 8-1 Illinois Wesleyan University. The women's lacrosse team will also be sponsoring a raffle for the contest. Live audio, video, and stats will be available. The live audio will be powered by Illinois Media School.
