Hawks Close Out Weekend in Style, Securing CSI Fall Classic Title

Staten Island, NY – The Scarlet Hawks finished off a great weekend with a 7-0 win against John Jay College, securing the College of Staten Island Fall Classic title.  The Hawks finished 2-0 on the weekend after defeating the host 2-1 the previous day.

On a bolstering hot Sunday afternoon, Illinois Tech was able to jump on top of John Jay early as Anida Phetchanpheng started off the scoring just 4:29 into the match.  She would go on to finish off the first hat trick of her career with two more goals in the 20th and 71st minute.  Veronica Torres added two goals, one with an assist from Phetchanpheng.

Lorena Souza finished off a strong weekend by repeating Saturday's performance with another goal and assist on Sunday.  Roxanne Myers recorded her first shutout of the year as she just had to make 1 save on the afternoon.  The Hawks outshot the Bloodhounds 29-4 before the game was stopped in the 77th minute due to lightning.

After traveling back to Chicago on Monday, the Scarlet Hawks now begin preparation for their first home matches of the year as they will host Albion College on Friday night and St. Mary's College on Sunday afternoon.
