Women's Soccer Earns Another Shutout Victory

Chicago, Illinois – Illinois Tech women's soccer posted their sixth shutout of the year with a 1-0 win over Carroll University on a very rainy Tuesday night.  Tech's goal in the 22nd minute proved to be enough to hold off the visiting Pioneers.

The Scarlet Hawks goal came by way of Adrianna Maron for her fifth goal of the year and her second game-winner.  Veronica Torres drove a low corner kick which found its way to the back post.  Maron did great to get herself free and put the goal away with a sliding effort.  They kept the pressure on for the rest of the match with many near misses.  The Hawks outshot Carroll by a margin of 19-8 and only allowed four shots on goal.

Roxanne Myers posted her fifth shutout of the season and improved her save percentage to .850, good for fourth in the nation in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

"I am really pleased with our recent performances and it was nice to find ourselves on the right side of a one-goal win," stated 2nd year head coach Ahmet Kose.  "We have been playing really well and managing to stay very organized in the back despite missing one of our key center backs.  We take pride in knowing that we have only allowed 12 goals in 12 games this season, and that is largely due to superior goalkeeping by Roxy and a very disciplined team buying in and sticking to a system.  We just have to keep plugging away down this last stretch of our season."

The Scarlet Hawks improved their record to 7-5.  Next up, they will host Ripon College this Saturday at 1PM on Stuart Field.
