St. Mary's of the Woods, IN – Veronica Torres scored two goals to help secure a 3-1 win over St. Mary's of the Woods College on Saturday afternoon in women's soccer action.  On a sunny and hot October afternoon, the Scarlet Hawks found themselves struggling with the grass surface early on but soon found their way. 

In the 31^st minute, Ana Salgado slipped a pass through the defenders to Torres who cut it back to her left foot and placed it in the side netting for a 1-0 lead.  The Hawks would add two more goals in the 2^nd half.  Adrianna Maron put away the finishing touch on a Lorena Costa cross after Costa displayed a great individual effort to beat St. Mary's goalkeeper to the ball.  Just two minutes later, Costa again made a great effort to get in behind the defenders before being taken down by a Pomeroy defender in the box.  Torres stepped up to put away her 2^nd penalty kick and her 8^th goal of the season. 

Roxanne Myers recorded five saves on the afternoon.  The Scarlet Hawks improved to 9-6 on the season and next head to Rockford University on Wednesday.
