Kunkel, Salgado, and Torres Shine on Senior Day

Chicago, Illinois – Illinois Tech women's soccer finished its 2014 season on Sunday as they pounced Finlandia University on Senior Day.  Seniors Hailey Kunkel, Ana Salgado, and Veronica Torres were recognized and honored at halftime of the contest.  Each senior tallied at least a goal on the day with Torres recording two.

Anida Phetchanpheng recorded a hat trick in the effort, lifting her season total to a team-high 13 goals.  Kristen Barrett, Alicia Ryan, and Denini Fernandes each added two goals.

Roxanne Myers, Emilie Woog, and Barrett split time in the net as Tech logged their 9th shutout of the season.

Head coach Ahmet Kose spoke about the season following today's match; "I'm really proud of this team for the strides we have taken over the last year and a half.  To more than double our win total from last season and still be disappointed that we didn't accomplish all we think we were capable of, says a lot about the direction we have headed in.  Looking back, this has been such a memorable season with so much to celebrate.  We'll miss our seniors tremendously and I just can't thank them enough for everything they have done for this program."

The Scarlet Hawks finish the 2014 campaign with an 11-6 record, setting a school record for the number of wins in a season.  Their .89 goals against average also ranks as the best in school history, as they only gave up 15 goals in their 17 matches this year.
