Women's Soccer Earns First Victory of Season

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology Women's Soccer team posted it's first victory of the season on Friday night, defeating Trine University 1-0 at Stuart Field.

How It Happened

  • Trine dominated in the shots column in the first half 9-3, but for the second match in a row, Tech was able to hold off an offensive onslaught for a full half. Three Trine first half fouls negated additional chances.
  • Half number was much more evenly-matched until Tech was able to break through in the 61st minute. As the Scarlet Hawks maintained possession in front of the net, Sarah Maciorowski scored her first collegiate goal, firing home a deflection to score the game's lone tally.
  • Trine controlled possession in the game's final minute, but a foul turned possession with 30 seconds left. Kristen Barrett was able to send a free kick perfectly into the back right corner to allow time to tick down.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Senior captain Adrianna Maron was all over the field, tallying three shots and two shots on goal
  • Another senior, goalkeeper Roxanne Myers, was strong in net once again, stopping eight shots and five in the second half
  • Freshman Kirsten Robinson had two chances and a shot on net
  • Maciorowski was able to score the team's lone goal

  • Jamie McCarrell tallied four shots and three shots on net
  • Erica Hoot also had four shot attempts
  • Kristin Veljovic made three saves

Stats To Know

  • Myers now has 22 saves on 23 shots on goal through the two contests
  • Trine recorded seven fouls compared to just two for Tech
