Women's Soccer on Wrong End of Third 1-0 Decision

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team (1-2-0) split a pair of 1-0 matches to begin the season, falling to Benedictine and defeating Trine. On Monday afternoon, the Scarlet Hawks played another 1-0 match, falling to Adrian College (2-0-2) at Stuart Field.

How It Happened

  • Both teams played an even match until Adrian broke through in the 29th minute, as Mackenzie Wilcox took a nice pass from Bailey Sarka and shot it past a giving Roxanne Myers for the game's only goal
  • Myers fought off a tough offensive onslaught from Adrian in the second half, as she saved five shots and saw 18 Adrian shot attempts. Tech only mustered two shot attempts in the second half.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Myers, a senior, put together her third strong outing in a row, stopping eight shots. 
  • Anida Phetchanpheng let the Scarlet Hawks with four shots and one shot on goal
  • Marina Eraas also had a shot on goal

For the Foes

  • Wilcox (nine) and Carlin O'Malley (six) combined for 15 shot attempts
  • Five of Wilcox's shots were on net

Stats to Know

  • Myers now has 30 saves through just three matches on the season
  • Adrian has yet to allow a goal through 400 minutes of play this season
  • The Bulldogs outshot Tech 27-6 for the match
  • Only 10 fouls were called for the entire match (Tech 6, Adrian 4)
