Offense Breaks Out in Women's Soccer Victory

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team put together its best match of the season on Monday night, downing Morton College 11-0.

How it Happened

  • Offense came early and often for the Scarlet Hawks, as the team scored four times in the first 15 minutes. They also scored in the 22nd and 36th minute to take a 6-0 lead into halftime. 
  • Ade Maron, Anida Phetchanpheng, and Kristen Barrett each scored twice in the first.
  • The second half started off in similar fashion, as Kirsten Robinson scored her first collegiate goal 17 seconds in. 
  • Later in the half, the Hawks would score four times in a nine-minute span to ice the contest.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Maron tallied three goals and three assists.
  • Barrett added three goals.
  • Phetchanpheng scored twice and added an assist.
  • Robinson, Alicia Ryan, and Roxanne Myers all scored once. Myers scored off of a penalty kick.
  • Olivia Kochaneck (two) and Marina Eraas (one) chipped in with assists.

Stats to Know

  • Tech outshot the Panthers 26-8 for the match and 18-2 in the first half.
  • The Scarlet Hawks attempted five corner kicks and held Morton to none.
  • Tech more than tripled its goal output for the season with its 11 goals.
