Tech Builds Win Streak to Three on Senior Day

CHICAGO, Ill.-  It was Senior Day for Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer on Saturday. Fittingly, the team's three four-year seniors, along with junior Anida Phetchanpheng, helped lead the Scarlet Hawks to a 3-0 victory over St. Mary of the Woods.

How it Happened

  • Illinois Tech started the scoring early. Senior and Tech's second all-time goal scorer, Ade Maron, tallied her 13th goal of the season in the seventh minute off an assist from Kirsten Robinson.
  • After a strong defensive first half and a Senior Day halftime ceremony, Phetchanpheng led a strong offensive attack in the second half. Off of a corner kick from senior Kristen Barrett, Phetchanpheng scored in the 52nd minute to give Tech the 2-0 lead.
  • Just 13 minutes later, Barrett would assist an Phetchanpheng goal to build the lead to three.
  • Illinois Tech's defense held strong in front of senior goalkeeper Roxanne Myers, as the Scarlet Hawks allowed just two shots after the final Tech goal, both of which went wide.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Maron (one goal) led the Hawks with five shots and four shots on goal.
  • Phetchanpheng (two goals) scored on her only two shots.
