RIVER FOREST, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team took on a tough Dominican University squad on the road on Tuesday afternoon, falling 5-1.
How it Happened
- The Stars scored twice within a minute's span in the first half. Dominican found the net in both the 19th and 20th minutes to go up 2-0, a score that held for the rest of the first half.
- Dominican's defense limited BenU's first half chances, holding the Scarlet Hawks to three shots.
- In half number two, Tech started fast with an unassisted Kristen Barrett goal in the 52nd minute.
- However, the Stars would counter with another tally in the 56th minute. Dominican would score again in the 83rd and 88th minutes to ice the contest.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Barrett scored the team's only goal on three shots (two on goal).
- Newly-named DIII Independents Player of the Week Ade Maron led the Scarlet Hawks with five shots.
- Roxanne Myers made nine saves.
Dominican Notes
- Lauren Zuro led the Stars with five shots and two goals.
Stats to Know
- Tech was outshot 19-12 but evened the Stars 9-9 in the second half.
- Tech committed just five fouls compared to Dominican's 15.
- This was Illinois Tech's first loss in six matches, bringing the team's record to 8-5-3 on the season.
