Elmhurst, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team dominated the Elmhurst University Bluejays offensively on Wednesday while on the road. The Scarlet Hawks had multiple goal scorers on the day to pick up the 7-0 non-conference victory.

The Hawks improved their record to 2-1 while the Bluejays fell to a 0-3 record.

How It Happened

  • Although it was just a 1-0 lead at the end of the first 45 minutes, the match was not as close as the scoreboard would say as the Hawks completely controlled the ball from the opening whistle. The first goal of the match was awarded to Carolyn Beltran

  • The Hawks wasted no time coming out of halftime to get more goals on the board. At the 46:52 mark, Kenzie Tokuchi picked up the loose ball at the 27 yard mark and recorded a one touch goal that went high and center right over the Bluejays goalkeeper.

  • In the 51st minute, Kayla Smith made it a 3-0 match when she picked up a Bluejay clear, dribbled her way up the field before rocketing a shot high into the opposite side netting from approximately 28 yards out.

  • Four minutes went by before Tokuchi scored her second goal of the match in the 55th minute. This goal came from just outside the 18-yard box after she received a pass, took a touch to create space, then shot the ball into the opposite lower left hand corner past the diving goalkeeper to make it a 4-0 match.

  • The match's fifth goal came 10 minutes later from Clàudia Martí Fanlo off an Amelia Moseman assist. Moseman passed the ball just outside above the goal-line outside the 18-yard box onto an awaiting Marti Fanlo who one touched it past the goalkeeper.

  • Moseman then picked up her second assist of the match when she assisted Gabriella Baltes in the 70th minute. The assist came off a corner kick in which Moseman placed the ball into the center of the box, right in front of the goal, and right into Baltes who bodied the ball into the net past the Bluejay defender.

  • The final goal of the match came in the 80th minute from Lucy Vanveldhuisen who placed it high and center into the back of the net off a Katelyn Holcomb assist to make it a 7-0 game.
