Women's Soccer Drops NACC Opener to Dominican

Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team fell short during the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) season opener to the Dominican University Stars by a final score of 1-0. 

How it Happened

  • Both sides fought hard during the first 45 minutes of play as both the Hawks and the Stars recorded four shots during the half. Neither side gave up a goal as the teams headed into halftime tied 0-0. 

  • The only goal of the contest came in favor of the visitors. At the 58 minute, 31 second mark, Natalia Lopez of the Stars found the back of the net with a volley off a bouncing ball outside the 18-yard box. Lopez struck the ball and sent it into the lower left corner to put the Stars up 1-0 over the Hawks. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Clàudia Martí Fanlo led the Hawks with three shots during the contest. Martí Fanlo placed two on goal. 

  • Amelia Moseman and Abigail Dudek recorded two shots each. Both of Dudek's shots were on frame. 

  • Katelyn Holcomb had one shot in the 90 minutes of play.

  • The Scarlet Hawk defense held strong throughout the contest, stopping multiple Star attacks. 

Inside the Box Score

  • Dominican held a 12-8 advantage in shots over Illinois Tech.

  • The Hawks had two corner kicks while conceding seven.

  • 15 fouls were recorded by the Hawks, while the Stars ended with 11.

  • The Hawks now head to Wauwatosa, WI to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. The NACC match-up will kick-off at 3:30 p.m.
