Women's Soccer Picks Up Phenomenal 8-0 Victory

Wauwatosa, WI - In a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest between the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks and the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors the Hawks pulled away with a phenomenal 8-0 victory.

How it Happened

  • The Hawks came out of the opening whistle looking for a goals. On their third shot attempt, the Hawks found the back of the net. Amelia Moseman put her name on the scoreboard at the 11 minute, 44 second mark to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

  • After taking more shots and not allowing the Warriors any, the Hawks recorded their second goal in the 18th minute. Lisa Rios scored for the Hawks off a shot that went high right into the back of the net. 

  • Before entering halftime, Laura Rios joined in with a goal Clàudia Martí Fanlo assist. At the end of the first 45 minutes, the Hawks lead the Warriors 3-0.

  • The goals kept on coming during the second half of play. Moseman kicked off the half with a goal into the lower right corner just six seconds in to improve the Hawks lead to 4-0. 

  • Kenzie Tokuchi added on to the scoring in the 60th minute with a shot low and center off a Jamie Griggs assist to make it 5-0. 

  • Griggs picked up another assist just five minutes later when Nicole Fajardo found the back of the net with a shot low and right of the goalkeeper to give the Hawks their sixth goal of the match. 

  • In the 75th minute, Caitie Chismarich continued the goalscoring for the Hawks from a Martí Fanlo assist with a shot into the left upper 90. 

  • The eighth and final goal of the game came from Laura Rios, who recorded her second goal of the game in the 90th minute. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Moseman and Laura Rios led the Hawks with two goals a piece. Moseman took four shots with three on goal while Laura Rios placed both of her shots into the back of the net. 

  • Lisa Rios, Tokuchi, Fajardo, and Chismmarich each tabbed one goal a piece. 

  • Sarah ThomasCheryl Gardner, and Sophia Rodriguez each shared time in goal during the shutout. 

  • As a team, the Hawks performed tremendously in not allowing the Warriors more than one shot opportunity. 

Inside the Box Score

  • Throughout the 90 minutes of play, the Hawks racked up 31 shots, 18 on goal while just allowing the Warriors one shot. 

  • The Hawks held a 12-2 corner kick advantage. 

  • The Warriors were forced to make 10 saves throughout the match. 

  • Illinois Tech committed four fouls while Wisconsin Lutheran committed two.

The Hawks now turn their focus to Monday when they travel to take on the North Park University Vikings at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference match-up.
