Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team continued their high goal-scoring streak on Saturday as they defeated the St. Norbert College Green Knights 6-1. The Scarlet Hawks currently have a 11-2-1 overall record and a 6-1-1 Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) record. In the NACC standings, the Hawks currently sit in fourth place.

How It Happened

  • Kelly Hitchcock kicked off the goal scoring for the Hawks. Hitchcock scored the lone goal of the first half off a Lucy Jorjorian assist. The Hawks received a corner kick in the 23rd minute in which Jorjorian sent a high ball across the box to where Hitchcock was able to jump over the Green Knights defense and head the ball into the goal to take a 1-0 lead. This lead lasted for the remainder of the half as the two sides went into halftime with the Hawks leading the Green Knights 1-0.

  • The second half of play saw all the goal scoring action. Just over one minute into the half, Amelia Moseman scored an unassisted goal to put the Hawks up 2-0. Moseman initially shot a slow moving ball that the Green Knight defender was able to knock away just in time. Unfortunately for the Green Knight defender, she cleared the ball straight back to Moseman. Moseman made sure not to miss this time, sending the ball hard and high into the back of the net.

  • Goal number three came in the 54th minute, this time by Clàudia Martí Fanlo off a Nicole Fajardo assist. Fajardo played a splitting ball through the Green Knight defense to where Martí Fanlo was able to run onto the ball. Just beating the Green Knight defender, Martí Fanlo toe tapped the ball to score the Hawks third goal of the match.

  • Three minutes later at the 57th minute mark, Allison Murray joined in on the goal scoring off a Gabriella Baltes assist. Off a Baltes header from a corner kick, Murray was able to stick her foot out to redirect the ball and score the Hawks fourth goal.

  • Hitchcock then scored her second of the game one minute later. After the Hawks stopped the Green Knights clearance opportunity, Hitchcock ended up with the ball inside the 18-yard box. Hitchcock was able to get past two defenders before having to take a touch to get by the diving Green Knights goalkeeper. With a wide open goal in front of her, Hitchcock placed the ball into the back of the net to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead over the Green Knights.

  • In the 66th minute, the Green Knights put one up on the scoreboard with a goal by Abby Thompson. Thompson was assisted by Mallory Names on the play. The Green Knights trailed the Hawks 5-1 at this point.

  • Jamie Griggs wrapped up the goal scoring for the night in the 80th minute from a Kenzie Tokuchi assist. Tokuchi was able to touch the ball out to Griggs who took a one-touch shot just outside the 18-yard box. Griggs shot went in between the goalkeeper's hands and the crossbar, giving the Hawks a 6-1 lead.
