Chicago, Ill. - After falling to 2-0 against the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's soccer team came back and finished the game in a 2-2 tie. The Wednesday night contest saw the Hawks move to 11-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.

How it Happened

  • A defensive battle between both sides controlled much of the first half as both the Hawks and the Raiders held strong defensively. In the 27th minute, the Raiders broke through with a goal by Addison Spilman. Spilman capitalized off a deflection from a corner kick to put the Eagles up 1-0.

  • After a miss hit on a Hawk free kick in their own defensive half, the Raiders picked up their second goal of the game, this time by Elizabeth Kuhn in the 37th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

  • With just over one minute remaining before halftime, Lucy Jorjorian converted a penalty kick to put the Hawks on the board. Entering halftime, the Hawks trailed the Raiders 2-1.

  • The Hawks continued right where they left off at halftime by scoring at the 48:47 mark. Kelly Hitchcock scored the tying goal after the Raiders goalkeeper bobbled the Hawks initial shot. This goal proved to be the game tying goal, as neither side was able to net any more goals.
