Chicago, Ill. - In the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Quarterfinals, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's soccer team hosted the St. Norbert College Green Knights on Saturday at Stuart Field. The 90 minutes of action saw the Hawks secure a 2-0 victory over the Green Knights, securing them a spot in the NACC Semifinals. Although the Green Knights took a defensive stance for much of the match, the Hawks were able to find the back of the net twice to seal the victory.

How It Happened

  • 8 minutes and 58 seconds into the match, the Hawks scored their first goal. Allison Murray netted the goal when she capitalized on a loose ball from about 10-yards out. Although the Green Knight defender got to the ball first, she was unable to get a clearing touch on it as it hit off a Hawk. Murray then got to the loose ball and struck it into the air, right over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to give the Hawks the lead.

  • With 10 minutes remaining in the match, the Hawks sealed their victory with the game's second and final goal. After receiving the ball in the middle of her offensive half, Amelia Moseman faced up and layed the ball off to Kelly Hitchcock. After dribbling into the box, a Green Knight defender began to apply pressure on Hitchcock. Before the defender was able to get in the way, Hitchcock shot the ball into the opposite side corner. Hitchcocks goal gave the Hawks their 2-0 victory over the Green Knights.
