Women’s Swimming in Seventh of Eleven After Day Two of Liberal Arts Championships

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Illinois Tech Women are in seventh place with 78 points after the second day of the Liberal Arts Championships. With two days to go, the women are just 19 points out of fifth place behind Morningside College (87 points) and Loras College (97 points). Luther College is in first place on the women's side with 297 points.

The Scarlet Hawks led off the evening with a ninth place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The team of Ava Obenaus, Haley Slator, Maddi Burrell and Grace Wischmeyer finished the race with a time of 1:48.90.

The women's 200 IMers had a strong showing at the meet, as Brigitte Temple and Briana Tyler swam to season best times. Tyler finished in ninth pace with a time of 2:17.56, while Temple swam to a fourth place finish with a time of 2:15.18.  The women's 400 Medley Relay team of Slator, Temple, Tyler and Burrell closed Day Two out with a strong sixth place finish in the race, with a final time of 4:14.63.

Swimming and diving action continues on Friday, February 13 with Day Three of the four-day event.
