Women Climb to Sixth in Day Three of Liberal Arts Championships

Cedar Rapids, IA – Women's Swimming and Diving have moved up a spot into sixth place after the third full day of competition at the Liberal Arts Championships. Led by a squad of seven freshman, the Scarlet Hawks continue to put on an impressive display as they climbed into sixth place with 182 points. Loras College is in fifth place with 233 points, and Luther College leads the meet overall with 650 points.

The 200 Medley Relay began the evenings finals with a fifth place finish. The team of Madeline Burrell, Grace Wischmeyer, Briana Tyler and Brigitte Temple posted a time of 1:56.86. Temple then went on to finish the 400 Individual Medley in third place with a final time of 4:45.02.

Haley Slator and Tyler also competed in the 100 Butterfly, with Slator finishing 15th (1:07.33) and Tyler finishing sixth (1:01.86). In a strong field of breaststrokers, Milica Gvozdjan finished in 15th place with a time of 1:15.19 and Wischmeyer finished eighth with a final time of 1:11.76.
Slator and Burrell also swam in the consolation heat of the 100 Backstroke, with Slator coming in 16th with a final time of 1:07.13, and Burrell placing 10th with a final time of 1:03.39.  The women then closed the evening with a strong seventh place finish in the 800 Freestyle Relay. The team of Temple, Wischmeyer, Ava Obenaus and Tyler finished seventh with a final time of 8:27.63.
