Women’s Swimming and Diving Competes in Tough St. Petersburg Relays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming and diving team competed in the St. Petersburg Classic Relays in Florida on Sunday morning. Facing some strong competition from the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, the Scarlet Hawks placed fifth in the meet.

Highlights

  • Tech opposed very tough competition in Florida, taking on some of the nation's top teams. The Scarlet Hawks opposed NCAA Division I SDSU along with perennial NCAA Division III powers DePauw, Wooster, and SUNY-New Paltz.
  • The women's 3x100 Yard Backstroke Relay team of Kristin Wills, Madeline Burrell, and Jasmine Duke put on a strong showing. The trio placed eighth with a time of 3:26.79.
  • Duke also was strong in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, posting a time of 25.66s in her 50-yard split. The 25.66s was the seventh fastest split out of the relay's 48 participants.
