Strong Meet Places Tech Women in Second

WHEATON, Ill. – The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming and diving team competed at the Wheaton Quad on Saturday at nearby Wheaton College. Illinois Tech placed second with 131 points, narrowly edging out third-place Augustana while competing closely with first-place Wheaton.

Meet Highlights

  • Tech's first win of the day came in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, as Brigitte Temple held off Augustana's Mia Polinski with a time of 1:12.50. She won the even by just under four-tenths of a second. Temple also took the 200 Yard Breaststroke event at 2:31.53.
  • Senior Nicole Frantz put together a strong meet, winning the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:44.73.
  • Jasmine Duke continued her remarkable freshman season, placing second in both the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:03.03) and 100 Yard Freestyle (57.29s).
  • In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Delaney Shepherd followed-up her LAC Player of the Week Performance with a second place finish, recording a time of 5:34.92.
  • Paige Mass placed second in the 1 meter diving portion of the meet (285.75).

Championships Ahead

  • The Illinois Tech swimming and diving teams have now concluded the regular season. Next up for the Scarlet Hawks is the Liberal Arts Championships, which will take place from February 11-13 at Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
