Scarlet Hawks Wrap up Indoor Season

Kenosha, Wisconsin - The Scarlet Hawk Track & Field teams traveled to Kenosha, WI for the "Indoor Final Qualifier" hosted by Carthage College. Teams from Chicagoland area are using this last indoor meet to punch their ticket to Nationals, since the top 16 on every event will automatically qualify to NCAA Division 3 Indoor Nationals.

"I was happy with the way we ended the season.  We competed well at this meet and most people were able to see that the hard work they've been putting in" said Head Coach Calin Hantau.

Venika Jarvis raced in the 55m Dash Final, finishing in 4th place. Anne Crotteau ended her Indoor career for Illinois Tech with a 3rd place in the 3,000m, just outside of her season best.

April Wanagas had a great race in the 800m, finishing in 3rd, with a Season Best. Brianna Koning, Khadijah Nesbitt, and Vanessa Arraiz Rada had a good showing in the field events.   "It was great to see our female throwers compete in the Shot Put Finals. I think it's first time that 3 Scarlet Hawks are competing for a Top 9 finish" noted Hantau.

Teva Venet continued his fine season, with good performances in the Long and Triple Jump, placing 6th in both. Joe Yassin was close to the 14m barrier again in the Shot Put, 13.83m. His effort was good for an 8th place in the event.

Head Coach Calin Hantau pointed that all the male athletes in the sprints and running events had season best performances at the last meet of the season.

This meet concludes the Indoor Season for the Scarlet Hawks. The Track & Field athletes will kick off the outdoor season at Puma Invitational, scheduled for March 28th, hosted by Saint Joseph's College.
