Hawks Turn Out Personal Bests at DuPage Meet

Glen Ellyn, Illinois - The Scarlet Hawks Track and Field Teams traveled to Glen Ellyn, IL for the Chicagoland Championships. The meet hosted by College of DuPage gathered institutions from the Chicagoland area.

"This was probably the best Chicagoland meet assembled in years. We competed against teams from all NCAA divisions, plus a few NAIA institutions and Community Colleges" said head coach Calin Hantau.

The competition was split into two days, women competing on Friday, April 10th and the men the following day.

"Our ladies battled some windy conditions but were able to stay competitive and turn some personal bests at the end of the day".  Anne Crotteau recorded the highest finish for the Scarlet Hawks, with a 5th place in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 19:16.  

The girls in the field events really stepped up and turned in personal bests in their events. Venika Jarvis had a strong showing in the 200m as well. 

Field events were represented well again on Saturday, during the men's competition, with season best efforts from David Foreman and Joseph Yassin, in the Discus Throw and Teva Venet, 9th in the Long Jump. 

The Scarlet Hawks had another day full of personal bests on Saturday. Having 4 freshmen representing (Honda, Thomas, El Miary, Ogunsami), the 4 x 100m relay crossed the finish line in 7th place.

Quentin Shipley raced well and improved his best 1500m by over 7 seconds.

Next scheduled meet for the Scarlet Hawks is the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Concordia University on April 18th
