Jarvis Sets School Record, Hawks Give Strong Performance

River Forest, Illinois - The Scarlet Hawks travelled to River Forest for the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Concordia University.

"It was a good day for us across the board", said Head Coach Calin Hantau, pointing out that the wide majority of his athletes recorded personal bests and season best during the day.

Xavier Alva opened the day for the men's team with a 3rd place in the 1000m run. Two of Alva's teammates, Wallace Muhammad and Isaac Gewarges, scored points in the event. They crossed the finish line in 6th and 7th.

Teva Venet finished 4th in the Long Jump for the Scarlet Hawks with a 6.27m effort, scoring valuable points for the team.

Anne Crotteau won the 3000m race with a time of 10:51.48, lowering her personal best in the event by almost 15 seconds.

Another highlight of the day was Venika Jarvis's 200m race. On her way to winning one of the heats, Jarvis bettered the school record, posting a time of 27.92 in the event.

"We are heading into the last stretch for the outdoor season at the completion of this meet. We really set ourselves for a good end of the season and hopefully we will be able to post few more school records in the next 2 weeks" said Hantau.

Scarlet Hawks are set to compete on Friday, April 24th at the Twilight Invitational, hosted by Benedictine University.
