Women's Volleyball Falls at Lake Forest to Start Season

Illinois Institute of Technology Women's Volleyball opened up the season on Tuesday night at Lake Forest College, falling in straight sets 25-20, 25-16, 25-20.

How It Happened

  • Illinois Tech jumped off to an early 4-1 lead in set one, but the Foresters slowly took control and built a five-point lead with game point. The Scarlet Hawks would stay alive on an attack error, but a service error clinched a set one victory for Lake Forest 25-20.
  • Set two started off much differently for the Scarlet Hawks, as Lake Forest built a 9-2 victory on four kills from four different players. Tech, however, would fight back to within two at 12-10 behind kills from Irena Grazuinis, Jelena Vujicic, and Alyssa Miner. The theme of the set would continue, as Lake Forest retook momentum and went on another run to win 25-16.
  • Both teams traded points to start set three, but a 5-0 run gave Lake Forest a 9-4 lead. The Scarlet Hawks would hit a high percentage in the middle of the set and come back to tie the score at 18 after two straight Elizabeth Woltman kills, but the Foresters went on another late run to close things out at 25-20.
