LISLE, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's volleyball team ended the 2015 season on Saturday, dropping two matches at the Benedictine University Eagle Classic. Tech fell to Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-1 and North Central College 3-0.
How it Happened- MSOE match
- The Hawks started the match strong, building an 11-8 advantage. Tech did its best to fight of some Raider surges, but MSOE finally took control late and won 25-21.
- The second set was back-and-forth in the early going until the Raiders went on a 7-1 run to take a 18-11 lead. MSOE held the lead and won 25-20.
- Set three was Tech's best set of the two-day tournament, taking a 5-1 lead early and never relinquishing the advantage. A Claire Fraeyman block iced the set and gave Tech the 25-18 win.
- MSOE controlled the final set, scoring the first four points en route to a 25-9 win.
How it Happened- NCC match
- A slow start did the Scarlet Hawks in during set one, as the Cardinals took a 7-0 lead. Tech never fully recovered and fell 25-15.
- The script to set two was similar, with NCC take a 5-0 lead. However, Tech responded with the next five. The Cardinals then went on a 10-1 run and rode the momentum to a 25-10 win.
- Set three was back-and-forth early, but the Cardinals used an 8-1 run late to win 25-20.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- For the second straight day, Irena Grauzinis led Tech in kills in both matches. She totaled 18 on the day with 20 digs.
- Jelena Vujicic totaled 16 kills.
- Adriane Walther led the Hawks with 49 assists and 26 digs.
