Slow Starts loom large in nacc loss

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Tech Volleyball team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran in a Friday night NACC battle. The Hawks (5-16, 2-6 NACC) couldn't slow down the red hot Warriors (12-9, 6-1 NACC) as they dropped the match 3-0.

How It Happened

  • The Warriors came out fast taking 16 of the first 20 points of game one and cruised to a 25-10 opening game win.
  • The second game once again saw Wisconsin Lutheran come out fast, taking a 4-0 lead. Tech worked it's way back into the match but was never able to overcome the early deficit as it dropped game 2 25-19.
  • The Hawks started Game 3 with the first 3 points. Shortly after the Warriors went on a 4 point streak of their own and went on to take 10 of the next 12 points to create an insurmountable lead to give up as they closed out the evening with another 25-19 victory.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Allison Wilkins and Sinjin Acuna did the dirty work leading the hawks in digs with 11 and 10 respectively.
  • Sarah Hassell paced the Illinois Tech offense with 9 kills on the night.
  • Once again, Catherine Klemp was solid in goal as she made 4 saves on 5 shots on goal.
  • Wilkins did more than just play defense, she led the Hawks with 4 aces on the evening as well.

Up Next

  • The Hawks will take a day off and look to regroup Sunday afternoon in a double header at NACC foe Dominican University as they will take on the host Stars and Olivet College at 10:00am and 12:30pm.
