Scarlet Hawks Post-Season Run Ends With 3-0 Loss to CUW in NACC Women's Volleyball Semi-Finals

Mequon, Wisc. - The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team's postseason run came to a close Thursday night at Concordia University Wisconsin, as the second-seeded Falcons took down the Scarlet Hawks 3-0 in the NACC Women's Volleyball Tournament semi-finals.

The Scarlet Hawks finished the season 18-12 overall, after earning their first conference post-season berth and first conference post-season win since joining the NACC in 2018. The Falcons improved to 23-4 on the season, and will face Aurora University in the NACC Championship game Saturday, November 6.

How It Happened

  • Set 1: The Hawks fell behind 2-0, and were never able to tie or take the lead, getting as close at 2 points at 7-5 before the Falcons went on a seven-point run in the middle of the set en route to their 25-13 first set victory.
  • Set 2: The Hawks opened with a 1-0 lead, but the Falcons responded with seven straight points and 9 out of 10 to take command of the set and an eventual 25-11 victory.
  • Set 3: The teams traded points in the first half of the set, sitting at 12-12 before the Hawks went on a run and opened up an 18-13 lead. The Falcons responded with seven points in a row to take a 20-18 lead. The Hawks countered with their own run of 4 straight points to regain the lead at 22-20, but they could not gain a point the rest of the way, as the Falcons closed out with five straight points to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.

  • Grace Reckamp  finished with 12 assists and 12 digs.

  • Jessica Weaver led the Hawks with two blocks.
