Women's Volleyball Secures 3-1 Victory over MSOE

Milwaukee, WI - The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory on Friday as they defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, and 25-18. The Hawks currently sit with a 10-4 overall record, and a 2-1 Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference Record (NACC). 

How It Happened

  • After being tied early, the Hawks went on a 10-3 run to hold a 17-10 lead over the Raiders. Illinois Tech spent the rest of the set building their lead to take the 25-16 victory.

  • Set two saw a closer battle between the two sides. MSOE started the set with a 5-0 run before Illinois Tech got in on the action. There were multiple ties throughout the set as both sides fought for the lead. Ultimately, the Hawks were able to pull away with the set victory at 25-22.

  • The third set went in favor of the Raiders. The Hawks started off with the lead before the Raiders took it and held on for most of the set. Illinois Tech fought hard to tie it at the end at 22-22. After the Raiders took two more points, the Hawks were able to pick up one before MSOE closed out the set 25-23. 

  • The fourth and final set went in favor of the Hawks to secure the conference victory. With a 3-0 start, the Hawks never allowed the Raiders to come within reach of the lead as they pulled away to secure a 7-point 25-18 set four victory.

  • MSOE held a slight, 1 point, advantage in kills as they recorded 50 to Illinois Tech's 49.

  • The Hawks ended with 8 service aces compared to the Raiders 1.  

  •  Illinois Tech finished with 80 digs while MSOE had 92.

The Hawks will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 1, when they head to Wauwatosa, WI to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors at 12:00 p.m. in NACC action.
