Day 1 at Chicago Leaves Women’s Swimming and Diving in Third

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming and diving team competed in Day 1 of the three-day Phoenix Fall Classic at University of Chicago on Friday night. The Scarlet Hawks ended the day in third place in the seven team field with 85 points.

Today's Events

  • Tech's two 200 Yard Freestyle Relay teams placed 11th and 12th, as the 11th place team of Madeline Lane, Grace Wischmeyer, Delaney Shepherd, and Briana Tyler scored 26 points with a 1:50.38 time. 
  • In the 1650 Yard Freestyle Relay, Shepherd led the way for the Hawks, placing seventh (19:32.14) and earning 12 points. Nicole Frantz placed 10th (19:45.01) and earned seven points. Lane (19:51.73, 12th) and Ava Obenaus (21:17.83, 14th) earned five and three points respectively.
  • Tech's 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Kristin Wills, Brigitte Temple, Tyler, and Jasmine Duke performed very well, placing sixth and earning the Hawks 32 points with a time of 4:08.97.
