Women's Swimming and Diving Drops Close Meet to Lawrence

CHICAGO, Ill-  The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming and diving team hosted Lawrence University in a dual on Saturday afternoon. Lawrence won the close contest 115-102.

Meet Highlights

  • Jasmine Duke was impressive, as she was one of two women's swimmers of the meet to win two events (Lawrence's Paige Witter). Duke won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.86s and the 100 Yard Freestyle at 56.07s.
  • Brigitte Temple also had a strong meet, winning the 200 Yard Breaststroke by over eight seconds at 2:31.63. She also lost by one tenth of a second in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:20.84.
  • No divers competed for Lawrence, but Tech's tandem of Paige Mass and Elly Shin has one of its top performances of the season. Mass (173.30) and Shin (126.65) recorded great scores in the six-dive competition.
  • Madeline Burrell won a close 200 Yard Backstroke event with a time of 2:18.81, holding off Lawrence's Emily Flack by eight tenths of a second.
  • Madeline Lane placed third in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, finishing just 12 seconds out of second place at 20:18.02.
  • Tech's 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Kristin Wills, Temple, Briana Tyler, and Duke placed second at 1:56.33, less than a second behind Lawrence's top team.
