CHICAGO, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology baseball team ended a four-game home stand with a Wednesday-afternoon doubleheader against Concordia (Wis.) at Ed Glancy Field. A six-run sixth inning, and an eight-run eighth inning propelled Concordia (Wis.) to a 16-5 win in game one before the Scarlet Hawks rebounded with an 18-7 victory in game two.

The split gives Illinois Tech a 3-1 record while the Falcons exit Wednesday with a 5-2 mark.

The Scarlet Hawks held a 4-2 lead after four innings. The first inning was all Michael Courtney; as he reached base on a hit by pitch before he moved into scoring position when he stole second base. He advanced to third base on Connor Blake's groundout, and scored off Brandon Bennitt's groundout to give Illinois Tech a 1-0 edge.

The Falcons tacked on a pair of fourth-inning runs before the Scarlet Hawks added three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Blake led off with a double, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored off Bennitt's sacrifice fly to tie the game at 2-2. Claudio LoBraico gave the Scarlet Hawks a 4-2 lead with a two-run home run that also scored Nick Bledsoe, who previously singled.

Illinois Tech only added one more run in the contest as Concordia (Wis.) mustered six runs in the sixth inning, and eight more in the eighth to secure a 16-5 victory.

Blake went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Scarlet Hawks, while five other teammates notched a hit. Blake, who pitched four innings, got the start on the mound for Illinois Tech before being relieved by Ryan Cantlin, Zac Lis and Joe Fulkerson

The Scarlet Hawks put the nail in the coffin with a 15-run fourth inning. Starting pitcher Roberto Carselle got plenty of run support from his offense as he registered seven strikeouts and allowed eight hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings pitched before Samuel Sproule relieved him for the final 1 1/3 innings.

Bennitt paced Illinois Tech at the plate with a 3-for-5 day with four runs scored and two RBI. Nick Bledsoe and Matthew Jackson each hit a home run for the Scarlet Hawks. LoBraico, Blake and Howell each notched a pair of hits.

Five different pitchers saw action for the Falcons.

Illinois Tech will return to action on Saturday, March 27 at Marian (Wis.) (DH). First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
