Connor Blake Named NACC Baseball South Division Position Player of the Week

CHICAGO—Illinois Institute of Technology baseball sophomore 3B/P Connor Blake has been named March 30 NACC South Division Position Player of the Week. This marks the Scarlet Hawks' second-consecutive NACC weekly honor after Austin Richardson earned Pitcher of the Week on March 23.

The Plainfield, Ill. native saw time at designated hitter, third base and pitcher in the Scarlet Hawks' four-game week that included a 16-5 loss and 18-7 win against Concordia (Wis.) at Ed Glancy Field on March 24, followed by an 11-9 and 18-8 sweep over Marian (Wis.) at home on March 28. Blake finished the week with a .600 (9-for-15) batting average that included two home runs, five doubles, 13 runs scored, seven RBI and a 1.333 slugging percentage. His game of significance occurred in an 18-8 victory over Marian (Wis.), when he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, four runs scored and one home run. 

Blake currently leads the Scarlet Hawks with a .565 (13-of-23) batting average, two home runs, 16 runs scored, six doubles, a 1.087 slugging percentage and a .630 on-base percentage through six games. 

The Scarlet Hawks return to action on Wednesday, March 31 when they host Edgewood (DH) at Ed Glancy Field. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
