Nick Bledsoe Named April 20 NACC Baseball South Division Position Player of the Week

NACC RELEASE

CHICAGO—Illinois Institute of Technology senior shortstop Nick Bledsoe earned April 20 NACC Baseball South Division Position Player of the Week. Bledsoe, who has an option to return for a fifth season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, is the third Scarlet Hawk to land the NACC weekly honor after sophomore pitcher Austin Richardson on March 23, and sophomore DH Connor Blake on March 30. 

The Crete, Illinois native's six-game week accumulated in a .609 batting average (14-of-23), three triples, two home runs, two doubles, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and a 1.217 slugging percentage. Bledsoe's bases-loaded triple in the 11th inning gave the Scarlet Hawks an 11-8 lead and eventual victory over Aurora on April 17. He finished that contest 3-for-6 with four RBI, two triples and two runs scored. 

Bledsoe's two home runs on the week occurred in an 18-12 win over Concordia Chicago on April 12, and a 10-3 loss to Aurora on April 18.

The information technology and management major carries a .436 (24-for-55) batting average with 21 RBI, three home runs, three triples, three doubles and 17 runs scored through 14 games played. 

Bledsoe and the Scarlet Hawks will host Rockford (DH) on Saturday, April 24 at 12:00 p.m.
