CHICAGO—Illinois Institute of Technology sophomore 3B Connor Blake was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Tuesday. Blake is the first Scarlet Hawk to land a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week since April 16, 2019 when Nick Bledsoe earned the distinction as a shortstop.
The Plainfield, Illinois native engineered a Scarlet Hawks offense that took 3-of-4 games from Benedictine (Ill.) this past weekend (May 1-2). Blake finished the four-game stretch with a .714 (10-of-14) batting average that included three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and five walks. He concluded the week with a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.357 slugging percentage. His performance helped Illinois Tech register a 14-4 victory over the Eagles on May 1, followed by a Sunday-afternoon sweep of Benedictine (Ill.) on May 2 that included 14-13 and 14-4 wins. The third baseman also notched a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on the week.
Blake, who also earned NACC South Division Position Player of the Week on March 30, carries a .407 (35-of-86) batting average along with 11 doubles, 37 runs scored, five home runs, 26 RBI, 14 walks and a .709 slugging percentage over 22 games played.
Blake and the Scarlet Hawks will play Dominican (Ill.) (DH) on Saturday, May 8 at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg, Illinois at 12:00 p.m.
